Maximum black hole mass across cosmic time

چکیده
At the end of its life, a very massive star is expected to collapse into black hole. The recent detection an 85 Msun hole from gravitational wave event GW 190521 appears present fundamental problem as how such heavy holes exist above approximately 50 pair-instability limit where stars are be blown pieces with no remnant left. Using MESA, we show that for stellar models non-extreme assumptions, 90..100 at reduced metallicity (Z/Zsun < 0.1) can produce blue supergiant progenitors core masses sufficiently small remain below limit, yet same time lose amount mass via winds enough up in range "impossible" two key points proper consideration overshooting and wind physics improved scaling loss iron (Fe) contents characteristic host galaxy metallicity. Our modelling provides robust scenario not only doubles maximum set by pair instability, but also allows us probe function Cosmic physically sound framework.

Scale Invariant Jet Suppression Across the Black Hole Mass Scale
We provide a schematic framework for understanding observations of jet suppression in soft state black hole X-ray binaries based on the Blandford-Payne process and the net magnetic flux threading the black hole. Due to the geometrical thinness of soft state disks, mass-loading of field lines is ineffective compared to both geometrically thick disks as well as thin disks with greater black hole ...

متن کاملCosmic Evolution and Primordial Black Hole Evaporation
A cosmological model in which primordial black holes (PBHs) are present in the cosmic fluid at some instant t = t0 is investigated. The time t0 is naturally identified with the end of the inflationary period. The PBHs are assumed to be nonrelativistic in the comoving fluid, to have the same mass, and may be subject to evaporation for t > t0. Our present work is related to an earlier paper of Zi...
متن کاملTesting cosmic censorship with black hole collisions.
There exists an upper limit on the mass of black holes when the cosmological constant Λ is positive. We study the collision of two black holes whose total mass exceeds this limit. Our investigation is based on a recently discovered exact solution describing the collision of Q = M black holes with Λ > 0. The global structure of this solution is analyzed. We find that if the total mass is less th...
